Project Management
Overview of the Project Management Division
The Project Management division will evaluate objectives associated with the administration of architectural projects, encompassing principles of organization, contract administration, and management of consultants. The division will concentrate on matters pertaining to office standards, the formation of project teams, and comprehensive project control involving client, fee, and risk management. Candidates are required to exhibit knowledge and skills in quality assurance, the configuration of project teams, and project timeline management. Furthermore, candidates must demonstrate the capability to set up and provide project services in accordance with contractual obligations, in collaboration with consultants.
Number of items: 75
Test duration: 3 hr
Allowed break time: 30 min
Total appointment time: 3 hr 40 min
This division is divided into five sections, each focusing on a different aspect of project management. In parentheses, you’ll find the expected number of items (questions) of each section in the PjM exam.
1. Resource Management (5-10)
2. Project Work Planning (13-17)
3. Contracts (19-23)
4. Project Execution (13-17)
5. Project Quality Control (14-19)
Section 1: Resource Management
After securing a signed contract, the next step involves identifying the resources required for project implementation. In this section, your task is to define the structure of the project team and strategize how to manage and distribute each team member's time effectively for the successful execution of the project.
Section 2: Project Work Planning
In this section, your task is to assess efficient methods for creating a work plan and conveying it to the gathered project team to ensure the project's completion.
Section 3: Contracts
In this segment, your task is to analyze the contracts that define the relationships among the architect, owner, contractors, and consultants.
Section 4: Project Execution
This section evaluates the management of the project's implementation. It doesn't focus on design-related decisions, but rather on the essential administrative processes that occur throughout the project.
Section 5: Project Quality Control
The final section in this division scrutinizes methods, procedures, and review processes for quality control to uphold the appropriate Standard of Care throughout the entire project. Similar to the preceding segments, this section doesn't focus on design-related decisions but rather on the essential administrative processes that occur throughout the project.
